THE DIRTY MIDDLE CLASS

T.C.P. Artist Showcase: ASAAD with ASAAD’s Week

Recently, I had the pleasure of discovering ASAAD, a talented Philly MC on his grind; a ‘Dirty Middle Class’ rapper spending hours in the studio, hungry to make some of the best sounding music around. I first got put on to ASAAD when the RubyHornet featured his latest project, Dirty Middle Class. At first, I admit, I slept on it but after seeing it around on multiple press outlets, I had to bite and give it a listen. Thank god I did, that’s a high quality project. The next time I saw ASAAD was back on RubyHornet when the homie SeanCK premiered Top Floor, a smooth rendition of luxury rap from the eyes of this 21-year-old Philly repper. On that premiere, CK ran a short interview and this is what ASAAD had to say about his music and his art:

“See my songs, if you notice my cover art never have text. I’m not trying to promote nothing. It’s not advertising to me it’s art. You know. All of my sh*t is dated, so when I record a song my engineer marks that session as to what day I did that song, so it will go in the archives, and it’s for people to enjoy. It’s free music. People are going to appreciate it so much because I’m giving out constant free music, that I spent time on.”

After reading that interview, and bumpin’ ‘Dirty Middle Class’ and Top Floor, I knew two things:

  1. ASAAD makes quality music
  2. ASAAD’s fucking hungry

Then something brought me to his Tumblr and I realized this guy was not fucking around. Top Floor was just one of five songs that ASAAD released last week, as a part of an impromptu “ASAAD’s Week” series. Usually, artists who try something like this aren’t as successful in maintaining the quality of the music, but ASAAD doesn’t play when it comes to his music. Down below you’ve got a .zip file with all 5 tracks from last week. Also, indulge in some of the art works he used. I’m telling you, this is some high quality shit. Shoot the MC a Facebook ‘Like’, and make sure to check out his most recent interview with ItsTheBino before you go.
